MiFID, the new regulatory framework directives will be effective on November 1st, 2007. At that date, MiFID will have created a structure for a pan-European market for investment products.

Cross Border trading in securities will be more accessible for international investors and institutions with a final objective: lowering the cost of capital for corporations.

Among challenges that MiFID deal with are:

  1. Investors’ protection: best execution, information to clients, order handling, suitability, investment advices, inducement, conflicts of interest).
  2. Deregulations: stock exchanges will compete with other players (electronic trading platforms, investment firms….)
  3. Transparency

Nevertheless, beyond the purely compliance aspects, opportunities and the challenges appear.
For instance, systematic internalized business may develop.

To make our conference quite worthwhile, we have gathered elite speakers who will answer most of the questions the delegates would like to be addressed.

Among them:

  • Best execution policy: what are the challenges for the compliance function?
  • What would a post-MiFID financial world look like ?
  • Passporting investment services across Europe: an opportunity for both large and small brokerages firms.
  • How do banks set up an internal MiFID programme ?
  • Which synergies can MiFID bring between all the departments of a global financial organisation?
  • Extending best execution to the OTC market ?
  • How can a financial intermediary becomes a systematic internalizer to enhance its business flows?
  • Who will be the winners and losers of a MiFID controlled financial world.
  • What impact will increased transparency have on market performances?
  • How realistic are the targets and the goals set by MiFID?
  • Will the buy-side dictate the progress of MiFID
